Two-day Golden Jubilee UGC State-level Seminar on “Child Sexual Abuse and Social Work Intervention”, organized by the Institute on 9-10 February 2007 was inaugurated on 9 Feb by Dr (Mrs) Vibhavari Dani, Dean, Government Medical College & Hospital, Nagpur. The inaugural session was presided over by Mrs Usha Mishra, social activist. The Guest of Honour was Dr (Mrs) Dipti Jain, Professor, Department of Paediatrics, GMC&H, Nagpur.

  7. Mr Ram Ingole: “Role of NGOs in Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse”.
  8. Mrs Shraddha Bharadwaj: “Role and Responsibility of Media in Protecting the Child from Abuse”.
  9. Mrs Madhuri Sakulkar: “Child Sexual Abuse: A Burning Reality”.
  10. Dr Jaya Shivalkar: “Empowering the Victims and their Families with the Help of Counselling Techniques”.
  11. Dr Anand Saoji: “Helping the Victims Under Traumatic Conditions”.
  12. Dr Sanjay Deshpande: “Need and Importance of Family Life Education in Community and Role and Responsibility of Parents and Needed Further Action”.
  13. Dr John Menachery: “Social Work Intervention Strategies to Combat Child Sexual Abuse from Macro Level Perspectives”.
The Valedictory session of the seminar was held on 10 Feb 2007. Prof (Mrs) Kalindi Mujumdar, former Vice Principal of College of Social Work, Nirmala Niketan, Mumbai delivered the key-note address. Dr (Mrs) Kusum Wankar, President, Matru Sewa Sangh, presided over the function while Mrs Vidya Apte of Forum Against Child Sexual Exploitation, Mumbai, Dr Lata Deshmukh, Secretary, MSS, and Dr Sneha Deshpande, Treasurer, MSS were the guests of honour. Mrs Anuradha Joshi functioned as the Seminar Coordinator.
